VANHAN NUKKEKODIN ASUKIT - WHO LIVES IN MY OLD DOLLHOUSE

In this family portrait you can see most of the inhabitants of my old dollhouse. Background of the pictures is one of my grandfather's clocks which is missing a mechanism.

Eowyn, Pelle ja Tonttu:
Eowyn, Clown and Elf:

Nalleperhe:
Teddybear family:

He näyttävät olevan hyviä ystäviä.

Mole and Clown. I made Mole with my sister when I was young, she made one too. Mole's eyes and buttons in her clothes are pins. I just realized that these two have some similarities; red hair, hat, red dots. I think they are very good friends. Clown broke his legs one winter in a sled accident. I took the whole group outside to a reindeer & sled ride but the speed was too high and Clovn flew from the sled to an icy road and his legs were cut off. I filled him with stearine and after that he has been able to stand somehow.

Nimetön tyttö, joka pitäisi nimetä!
Nameless girl. I really should give her a name and stop calling her nameless!

VANHA NUKKEKOTINI - MY OLD DOLLHOUSE

I call this dollhouse my first even though I had a Lundby-type-of dollhouse when I was little. I had some other houses too before this one. When I was about 12 years old I aksed my grandpa to build me a dollhouse. I made the floorplan myself. My idea was that there would be no grown-ups living in the house. Only children, animals and funny creatures who would all be equal and would live happily together. Many of the furniture, dolls and items in the dollhouse look clumsy now but they are even more dear to me because of that.

Jälkeenpäin taloon on ilmaantunut vähän epämääräistäkin porukkaa, mm. epäonnistuneita nukkeja (ja aikuisia), joita itse en alunperin kelpuuttanut taloon.
Talossa on kellarikerros, ensimmäinen kerros, jossa on leipomo, eteinen ja keittiö. Toisessa kerroksessa on olohuone ja työhuone. Yläkerrassa kaksi makuuhuonetta ja kypyhuone.

Afterwards some other dolls have showed up in the house, for example dolls I made but weren't good enough (or grown-ups).
There's a basement, a ground floor with bakery and kitchen, a second floor has a living room and a study. Top floor has two bedrooms and a bathroom.

Kellarin viini- ja hillovalikoimaa:
Vines and jams in the cellar:

Kellarissa asuu tonttu.

There's an elf living in the cellar. It is actually really old. He served for decades as a christmas ornament at my grandparents home.

Kuvia leipomosta:
Hinnasto on näköjään haalistunut. Tein foliosta ja karkkipapereista karkkeja ja suklaalevyjä. Muistan kuinka innoissani niiden tekemisestä silloin olin.

The bakery. I made candies and chocolate bars out of tin foil and candy wrappers. I remember how much fun I had in making them.

Oven suussa seisoo yksi asukkaista: Possu.

There are some things in the kitchen that are from my childhood like the blue plastic pitchers, red teapot and the cupboard on the wall. You can see one the dwellers of the house by the door, his name is simply: "Pig."

Man sitting in the study is a contradiction to my ideology that only children should be living here. Maybe he just looks a little mature for his age..? I think his name is Edward but I am not completely sure because I changed his name few times.

I made the playing cards one by one by hand. That time there were no computers, printers and internet..!

Pahvista tekemäni huonekalu, kirjoja, karttoja ja nahkalompakko jossa on uudenvuoden tinasta tekemiäni rahoja. Pitääpä joskus vähän penkoa enemmän tuotä hyllykköä, siellä näyttäisi olevan myös valokuva-albumi. Jännä miten en enää muista mitä olen tehnyt 17 vuotta sitten... :)

Furniture made out of cardboard, books, maps and a leather wallet filled with tin coins. I should rummage through here later on, looks like there's a photo album and other things too. Funny how I don't remember what is in there after 17 years... :)

Laiva pullossa.
Ship in a bottle.

Olohuoneessa istuu neitonen, jolle en koskaan antanut nimeä. Siellä on myös kaksi kovia kokenutta henkilöä: myyrä (josta lisää tuonnempana) ja pumpulista tehty kissa. Silmät on piirretty tussilla ja kaulassa on villalankarusetti.

Girl sitting in the living room doesn't have name. For some reason I never named her. There's also two creatures who have had a rough life: Mole and Cat. I will tell more about Mole in the next post. The Cat is made out of cotton and I drew the eyes with sharpie.

Tämä on nalleperheen ja nimettömän neitosen makuuhuone. Sängyn alla on muuten iso suklaakonvehtirasia :)
Teddy bears and the nameless lady sleep in this bedroom. By the way, there's a chocolate hidden under the bed :)

Teddy bears are reading one of my favourite books. I love these teddy bears, they used to be a big thing and I had many of them in the 90's. I haven't seen them lately.

Kylpyhuoneessa on kakkurasiasta leikatut seinäkaakelit. Peili on vanhasta soittorasiastani.

The bathroom tiles are cut from a cake box. Mirror is from my old music box. The toilet seat looks kind of rough, it's made out of Das clay. Tub used to be in my sister's dollhouse when he was little, it has changed from white to yellow.

This bedroom belongs to Eowyn. She is named after Eowyn from The Lord of The Rings which is a book I kept reading over and over again. Eowyn was my favourite character in the book.

The clock on the wall is similar to the ones my grandpa used to make when he was retired. He made lots of them, gave them as gifts and sold them too. Here's mine and his for comparison:

I will introduce the inhabitants of the house next but I do it in a separate blog post on another day so this post won't get too long...
